How we work with you
K Stack designs, builds and supports software for organisations. Founded in Melbourne in 2018. This overview sets out how we plan the work, keep you informed, check what we deliver, handle your information and hand over, so you can judge whether we are the right partner.
Your business purpose guides the work.
We review the people, workflows, systems and constraints involved, then recommend an approach and a scope your stakeholders can review. We explain our recommendations and their trade-offs, so your team can make informed decisions.
A clear view of progress, decisions and next steps.
You work directly with the senior engineering lead responsible for your project. We agree the rhythm at the start: a written update you can reply to, and a review of working software at each agreed checkpoint.
When circumstances change, you understand the choices.
Nothing changes scope, timing or cost without your agreement. We explain the impact, set out the options with their trade-offs and recommend one. You decide. The plan is updated with the decision, who owns it and when it will be reviewed.
Review the work with the evidence behind it.
We check the work before we ask you to accept it. We test functionality, integrations and failure conditions as the work develops, in the environments and user roles agreed for the project. Each delivery comes with what it set out to do, what was checked and anything still open.
Useful technology, with clear boundaries.
The portal, and any AI app you connect to it, follow the same rules.
- Each person sees only what their role and project access allow.
- A connected AI app acts as the person who connected it, with the same access.
- A proposed change is shown in full and waits for a person to confirm it.
- Every check runs again at the moment of confirmation.
- Some things are never done through AI: money, access, emails sent on their own, uploads.
- Connected apps can be disconnected at any time. An organisation can keep its work out of AI tools entirely.
Your data stays in your systems.
This app holds the project itself: the plan, tasks, updates, decisions and the documents shared for the work. The data inside your systems, such as student, patient or customer records, is not stored here. It stays in your systems, or in storage set up separately for your project, and the app links to it.
- You can see everything we hold about your organisation from one link, with each item listed.
- You can ask us to delete all of it, or chosen projects. We do it within 30 days, in line with our privacy policy and the law that applies to you, and it leaves our backups 30 days later. We keep only the invoices the law requires and a record that the deletion was done.
- Only engineers in Australia work with information about children, and each holds a current Working with Children Check. Engineers outside Australia hold a police clearance from their country.
- We are working towards ISO/IEC 27001 (information security) and ISO/IEC 42001 (AI management) certification, and a SOC 2 report.
Where project data is held, and for how long, is set out in your agreement.
A clear handover. An agreed path forward.
You can run what we deliver, with us or without us. Before release, we agree:
- Ownership and access
- Documentation and walkthroughs
- Support, coverage and response times, with an SLA where required
- Planned improvements
- Handing over to another team, if you choose
Arrangements vary by engagement and are set out in your agreement.
